Modern Languages Adjunct Faculty (EVENING COURSES – Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish) – FALL 2026 Position Title: Modern Languages Adjunct Faculty (EVENING COURSES – Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish) – FALL 2026 Campus: Cranford, Elizabeth, Plainfield Department: Modern Languages Full-time, Part-time, Adjunct; Exempt or Non-Exempt; Regular, Temporary, or Grant; Regular General Responsibilities: Teach courses as assigned. Teach in person or online as required. Provide instruction in accordance with the course catalog, syllabus, and schedule, incorporating interactive approaches, technologies, and methods. Integrate diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives. Employ library resources, writing, and academic technologies when possible. Attend all scheduled class meetings. Advises Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences and reports in a timely manner. Maintain accurate grade and attendance records and submit reports to the Dean/Assistant Dean or Student Records Office. Submit grades by the published deadline. Participate in assessment of learning outcomes and use results for course planning. Ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and equipment. Provide progress reports for counseling, athletic oversight, and record‑keeping, discussing student issues with counselors when necessary. Adhere to college policies and procedures. Education Requirements: Master’s Degree in the discipline unless otherwise specified. Some teaching experience required. Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview; official transcripts upon hire. Experience and Competencies: Teaching experience at the community college level. Certification or license as needed. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates. Willingness to use alternative educational delivery systems and instructional techniques. Commitment to incorporating library, computers, writing, and culturally diverse perspectives. Knowledge of competency-based education. Provision of out-of-class interaction with students. Fundamental competency in information technology. Commitment to assessment of teaching‑learning processes and outcomes. Commitment to professional growth and development. Mastery of subject matter. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Duties performed in interior/residential environment. Occasional lifting/moving of up to 25 pounds. Limited exposure to physical risk. Some travel required.
