What You'll Lead

As Chief of Staff, you'll oversee the medical direction and quality of care across the hospital while partnering closely with hospital leadership to ensure exceptional outcomes for patients, clients, and employees.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading veterinary service directors and medical leadership teams
• Setting and advancing standards for clinical excellence and patient safety
• Supporting recruitment, retention, mentorship, and development of veterinary professionals
• Overseeing internship, residency, externship, credentialing, and continuing education programs
• Driving continuous improvement across clinical operations
• Ensuring compliance with medical, regulatory, and accreditation standards
• Collaborating on strategic planning, budgeting, staffing, and organizational priorities
• Serving as a trusted leader during complex medical and operational situations
• Building strong relationships with referring veterinarians, academic partners, donors, and the broader veterinary community

Who You Are

You're an experienced veterinary leader who enjoys developing people as much as solving complex challenges.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school
• Massachusetts veterinary license, or the ability to obtain licensure
• Significant leadership experience within a specialty, emergency, or multi-specialty veterinary hospital
• Success leading veterinarians, specialists, or medical leadership teams
• Strong understanding of hospital operations, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and veterinary ethics
• Demonstrated ability to build consensus, mentor leaders, and navigate organizational change
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Board certification in a veterinary specialty
• Experience directing internship or residency programs
• Experience with strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational growth

Compensation

Starting salary: $375,000

Compensation may be higher for candidates whose experience, leadership background, and specialty credentials exceed the minimum qualifications.
