Accounting Assistant

JOB TITLE: Accounting Assistant DEPARTMENT: Accounting REPORTS TO: Director, Accounting CLASSIFICATION: Temporary, Part-Time, Non-Exempt REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: Partial GENERAL SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Director, Accounting, the Accounting Assistant provides project support for software implementation, audit preparation, drafting policy and procedures, and providing back up support for accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections management, and other processes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Complete data and analysis projects to support accounting software implementation. Document and update templates, policies, and procedures for new accounting processes. As assigned examine, verify, and reconcile account transactions for accuracy for accounts payable and accounts receivable. Provide back up support for processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as assigned. Support accounting liaison duties including report preparation and transaction processing Complete tasks and reports to support audit preparations. Apply DIA values to interactions to support a culture of belonging among internal and external stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Some college or associate degree in accounting and finance required. Experience with financial/accounting software required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Demonstrated research and analysis skills to identify critical information and complete projects and goals. Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail and produce accurate results. Demonstrated skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks tomeet deadlines and goals. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes in priorities based on operational need. Must possess a demonstrated understanding of ethical business conduct and professional practices including maintenance and protection of confidential and sensitive information. Must be proficient in latest version of Office 365, including SharePoint, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel. Must have proficiency in the use of remote work technology such as scheduling with, connecting to, and using digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams. Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive, and courteous interactions that promote positive teamwork. This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.
