Job Overview A law firm seeks a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property & Technology practice in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least five years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution. Duties Harvest inventions directly from clients. Advise clients on invention disclosures, patent strategy, and prosecution. Evaluate cutting‑edge technology. Draft and prosecute US patent applications. Guide prosecution of foreign patent applications. Contribute to opinion work and client counseling. Support litigation efforts. Provide technical support across the practice. Requirements At least 5 years as a patent agent at a law firm or in‑house. Experience with software patents is a plus. Must be registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Education Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Certifications Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Skills Genuine passion for technology and a collaborative spirit. Sharp attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
