Make a significant impact supporting students with diverse needs in a dynamic school environment for the upcoming academic year. This is a contract opportunity for experienced Special Education Teachers, each assignment focused on serving one school within a supportive and collaborative district.
Positions are available for the following full-time roles:
- Learning Specialist (Mild/Moderate): Openings at elementary schools in Westminster and Thornton. Support students requiring academic and behavioral intervention within a general education environment.
- Affective Needs Specialist: Serve at an elementary school in Thornton, leading a small team to assist students with more severe emotional and behavioral disabilities. Familiarity with CPI, de-escalation, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, and development of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) are strongly preferred. Experience in autism support is required.
- Structured Learning Services Specialist: Based in Thornton, these classrooms support students with severe cognitive and behavioral needs in a self-contained setting. Collaboration with speech, OT, and psychology professionals is integral. Experience with station-based instruction, autism, ABA (including the Denver model), and severe behavior management is highly valued.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado DOE Teaching License with a Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement.
- Strong skills in implementing individualized education plans, collaborating with service providers, and leading paraprofessionals.
- Experience with various behavioral and instructional strategies.
- Ability to complete all district-required credentialing documents promptly.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to mesh well with school teams and service providers.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student’s needs.
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective interventions.
- Supervise and collaborate with paraprofessional staff.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and adaptive classroom environment.
