Why This Role Matters This position plays a critical role in ensuring mortgage loans are closed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. By coordinating closing activities, reviewing documentation, and supporting post-close processes, the Mortgage Loan Closer helps deliver a smooth experience for borrowers and supports the overall operational success of the Mortgage Lending team. What You’ll Do The Mortgage Loan Closer provides departmental and end-to-end closing support to the Mortgage Lending team. This role must adhere to and execute responsibilities in accordance with all state and federal regulatory compliance, as well as LCEF loan policy and guidelines. In this role, you will: Provide administrative support including processing and routing incoming mail; organizing, imaging, and verifying loan files; initiating and preparing check requests and payments; and entering and verifying loan information in loan origination systems. Prepare loan closing packages within regulatory and compliance guidelines and coordinate the details of the loan closing. Review and balance closing disclosures and advise for corrections as needed. Prepare and disclose initial and corresponding closing disclosures. Review lock confirmations and underwriter approvals to ensure loans are closed in accordance with underwriting, state, and federal guidelines. Act as correspondent between title company, loan officer and third-party vendors. Review Title Policy, Tax Certifications, Hazard Insurance and surveys for accuracy. Request wire transfer for funding and escrow. Oversee the transfer of loan files to Loan Servicing, ensuring all documents are properly recorded, packages are complete, and information is accurate prior to transfer. Track loans for receipt of required documents and timely closing.Prepare purchased loans for underwriting and appropriate approvals. Process loan payoffs and servicer document requests. Post-close originated mortgage loans. Process Home Equity loan payoffs. Assist with delinquencies or state exams as needed. Carry out other duties as assigned. What You’ll Need High school diploma or GED required. Minimum two years of recent mortgage loan closing experience. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers while delivering exceptional customer service. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, including clergy and lay people. Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn proprietary and non-proprietary software applications. Ability to learn new skills, information, and processes quickly and apply knowledge effectively. Collaborative mindset with a positive attitude and commitment to teamwork across functional areas. Strong analytical and decision‑making skills related to mortgage loan closing processes. Self‑motivated, proactive, and dependable work style. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
