Job Title: Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:
Provides sterile and technical support to the surgical team before, during, and after surgical procedures. Prepares the operating room, instruments, equipment, and supplies while maintaining sterile technique and supporting safe and efficient patient care.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred or required based on facility requirements.

• 1–2 years of surgical or operating room experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.

• BLS certification required.

• State registration or certification required where applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.

• Maintain sterile technique and monitor the sterile field throughout procedures.

• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons and surgical team members as needed.

• Perform surgical counts of instruments, needles, sponges, and other supplies according to established protocols.

• Assist with specimen handling, surgical equipment, room turnover, and post-procedure cleanup.

• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure required supplies and equipment are available.

• Follow infection control, patient safety, and surgical standards while maintaining accurate documentation.
