Inside, you'll find expansive turbine halls with soaring ceilings, advanced steam systems, and dedicated maintenance shops designed for heavy industrial equipment, along with secure control centers—creating a dynamic environment for repair and technical work.SummaryYou will perform precision welding and heavy mechanical repair work across power plant equipment to support safe and efficient plant operations.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and perform highly skilled electric arc and gas welding, cutting, brazing, pipefitting, and insulation installation/removal on power plant equipment.Perform certified welding on boiler pressure parts, pressure vessels, and piping in accordance with ASME codes, subject to insurance underwriters' inspection/certification.Execute a broad range of mechanical maintenance, including: Repair/replacement of boiler tubesStructural steel erectionReplacement of liner plates in fans, coal chutes, and hoppersWelding repairs to castings and equipmentPiping/valve work (measuring, layout, cutting, threading, bending, fitting, installation)Replacement of flange, valve, and heater gaskets; valve repacking, repair, overhaulCleaning/replacement of condenser and heat exchanger tubesWhere applicable, repair of traveling water screensWorking Conditions & HazardsFull range of temperatures from very hot to sub-freezing; sudden changes may occur.Exposure to noise, dust, dirt, fumes, odors, drafts, inclement weather, heights, and confined spaces.Hazards typical of welding and heavy industrial maintenance work, including burns, flashes, and risks related to elevated work and energized equipment areas.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED AND either:Completion of a two-year technical college program and 5 years working as a Certified Welder Repairman, ORCompletion of a certified apprentice program and 5 years working as a Certified Welder Repairman, ORTen (10) years working as a Certified Welder Repairman.Must be able to climb ramps, ladders, and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces.DepartmentThis position is within our Energy Center Shop Maintenance Department.Additional InformationAmeren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment.
