High Point University Healthy Futures VISTA The Food Justice VISTA will build the capacity of the local food system by strengthening partnerships among food pantries, community gardens, nonprofits, schools, and public agencies to improve coordination and expand access to healthy food. The member will conduct community assessments, collect and analyze data, and develop reports and tools that support strategic planning and long-term sustainability. They will assist with resource development through grant research, proposal support, and creation of outreach materials, while also enhancing communications through social media, newsletters, and community engagement efforts. Additionally, the VISTA will develop and improve volunteer recruitment and management systems, support collaborative food access initiatives, and help design scalable programs that address food insecurity, ensuring the Alliance’s efforts are effective, sustainable, and impactful. Food Justice VISTA Duties Deepen the Greater High Point Food Alliance’s network of food pantries, backpack programs, and hot meal programs. Research and disseminate information about food resources, cooking, and nutrition for low-income residents. Food Systems VISTA Duties Develop neighborhood focused strategies to address food insecurity in partnership with residents. Conduct research, benchmarking, grant‑writing, and policy work that will promote greater access to food.
