High Point University Education VISTA

This project will offer VISTAs the chance to deepen existing community programs. They will get to build community ownership, engage volunteers, and shape the nature of these programs. After finishing the project year, VISTAs will be well‑prepared for the job market. They will have clear “wins,” tangible examples of their leadership, and strong references who are ready to speak to the impact they have made. This project is perfect for someone wanting to get involved in education, education policy, community development, college readiness, non‑profit management, public administration, politics, or communications. Member Duties Five Education VISTAs: share key capacity‑building initiatives. Community Engagement VISTA: lead marketing, branding, and fundraising efforts. Enrichment VISTA: expand the Community Writing Center and strengthen Bonner Leaders’ anti‑poverty and capacity‑building work. Partnership VISTA: grow tutoring and enrichment programs, enhance recognition of outstanding educators, and improve the public image of High Point schools through strategic communications. Persistence VISTA: build Avance program capacity, coordinate volunteers with the YWCA, promote civic engagement, and support adolescent parents and Latinx students toward high school success. Student Engagement VISTA: strengthen coordination among HPU mentoring groups, identify service gaps for K–12 support and college readiness, and help nonprofits recruit HPU student volunteers.
