Automotive Mechanic

Performs and/or assists in performing minor mechanical repairs and adjustments on a variety of gasoline and diesel automobiles, and other mechanical equipment; assist in diagnosing mechanical difficulties in automotive equipment; repair and replace tires and perform a variety of other tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma. A valid driver's license. EITHER: Two (2) years of full time experience in automotive repair and/or maintenance OR: An Associate's degree or a two year technical certification in automotive repair. NOTE: Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements may be interchangeable on a year of year basis. * Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and license(s) claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

Kind of Examination

A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
