Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery serves as a Charge Nurse, providing skilled nursing care in a high-acuity obstetric environment. This role involves overseeing patient care in OB triage, labor and delivery, antepartum, and post-anesthesia care units. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to manage high-risk pregnancies, inductions, and deliveries while ensuring patient safety and quality care. Strong leadership, clinical expertise, and effective communication are essential, with a requirement for an active Alaska RN license and relevant certifications. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in Alaska with license in hand prior to assignment.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; Charge Nurse experience required or willingness to train.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced certifications.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• Strong clinical skills in labor and delivery nursing.
• Effective leadership and communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Previous experience in high-risk obstetrics or acute hospital settings.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
• Experience working in Magnet or Level II Trauma facilities.

Special Considerations:

• No on-call requirements.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• May float within scope to similar units as needed.
• Time off requests are approved on an individual basis and must be included with submittal.
• Must have own transportation; parking is free.
• Travelers can be called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week pay period.
• Locals not accepted; candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility.

Scheduling:

• 13 or 26 week assignment length.
• Shift pattern: 3 or 4 twelve-hour night shifts per week.
• Block scheduling is not accommodated.
• Guaranteed 60 hours per two weeks.
