Indirect Tax & Compliance Accountant Woodbury, NY, US 7 days ago Requisition ID: 1287 Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE The Indirect Tax and Compliance Accountant is responsible for the Company’s sales and use tax, alcohol license, tangible tax, and other compliance and filings. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for oversight/completion of all indirect taxes to include beer and alcohol taxes. Liaison with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues Responsible for responding to inquiries from regulatory authorities and coordinating appropriate responses. Ensure timely compliance with all annual and interim reporting requirements. Prepare and review journal entries and perform account reconciliations, identify account variances, and determine corrective courses of action. Research rules and regulations and stay current with changes in tax/compliance law. Apply and renew business licenses, sales tax licenses, and various other excise tax licenses for Florida locations. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Three to five years of experience as a tax and compliance accountant. Proven and successful experience working at all levels of tax problem analysis, tax preparation, and resolution. Requires general accounting work experience and knowledge of GAAP. Strong Excel skills are required. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
