Unit Secretary - Observation

Schedule & Location Schedule: Day shift – 12‑hour – 7:00 am to 7:30 pm with rotating holidays and weekends Facility: Resurrection Medical Center Location: Chicago, IL 60631 Overview The Unit Secretary is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the Observation department. The role is accountable to the Director/Manager and supports the Charge Nurse or House Supervisor. Key duties include transcription of physician orders, preparation of patient charts, ordering supplies, and assisting nursing staff with indirect patient care tasks. Responsibilities Transcribe physician orders from records and ensure notation and signature by nursing staff. Prepare and comply with records on the Emergency Room. Order supplies for the unit and prepare each patient’s chart for necessary daily forms. Assist nursing staff with duties involving indirect patient care. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience. BLS certification (ARC or AHA) within 30 days and maintained. Medical terminology knowledge preferred. Effective communication and customer‑service skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred. Previous experience in an acute‑care setting or physician’s practice preferred. Pay Transparency Resurrection Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $17.05 to $23.84. Specific starting compensation will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, considering factors such as skill set, experience, education, and credentials.
