Registered Nurse Telemetry

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse - Telemetry provides skilled nursing care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring, including those with ventilators and tracheostomies. This role involves patient assessments, medication administration, and management of complex clinical conditions in an acute care hospital setting. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care and must be skilled in ventilator and tracheostomy management. At least one year of nursing experience and relevant certifications are required.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct nursing care to telemetry patients, including ventilated and tracheostomy patients.
Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs and telemetry data.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
Manage patient documentation using electronic medical record systems.
Float between telemetry and medical-surgical units as needed.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
Minimum of 1 year nursing experience, including care of ventilated patients and tracheostomy management.
Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
NIH Stroke Scale certification.
Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and telemetry monitoring skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in acute care telemetry or medical-surgical units.
Previous experience floating between similar units.
Familiarity with Meditech electronic health record system.

Special Considerations:

Must have experience managing ventilated patients and tracheostomies; candidates without these skills will not be considered.
Floating between Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance and other similar units may be required.
On-call is not required.
Radius for travel or commute is within 50 miles.
Facility allows free parking and permits any scrub color.
Guaranteed hours with possible call-off once per two-week pay period.

Scheduling:

Shift assignments and block scheduling are at manager discretion.
Weekend work required every other weekend.
Ratios typically 1 nurse to 4 patients.
Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included at time of submission.
