Position Information Position Title: Outdoor Program-Marketing Specialist Requisition Number: H00035P Position Category: Hourly/Work Study Campus Location: Weber State University - Ogden, UT Hours per week Months per year Alternate work schedule Pay Grade Salary Hourly Pay Rate: $13.25 FLSA Job Summary/Basic Function The Outdoor Program Marketing Specialist is responsible for assisting the Campus Recreation Marketing Coordinator with promoting the WSU Outdoor Program’s programs, services, and events. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with department social media venues (with authorization of supervisor), following best practices for social media/photography/videography, organizing and facilitating tabling events, distributing and maintaining inventory of promotional materials, conducting promotional presentations, assisting with assessment efforts including tracking/evaluating activities, participating in required training/meetings, and assisting with other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Marketing Coordinator. Responsibilities Assist the Marketing Coordinator with promoting the Outdoor Program’s programs, services, and events. Assist with department social media venues (with authorization of supervisor) and follow best practices for social media, photography, and videography. Organize and facilitate tabling events and distribute and maintain inventory of promotional materials. Conduct promotional presentations and assist with assessment efforts including tracking and evaluating activities. Participate in required training and meetings and assist with other duties as assigned. Report to the Marketing Coordinator (and related supervision as applicable). Required Qualifications Solid interpersonal communication, teamwork and customer service skills. Attention to detail. Strong communication and organizational skills. Experience managing and creating content for social media (primarily Instagram). Must be flexible; mornings, days, nights, weekends, breaks. This position is 50/50 eligible; student must be enrolled full-time and have at least a 2.0 GPA to qualify. Read, understand, and abide by all employee policies and procedures as stated in the Outdoor Program employee policy and procedures manual. Perform other duties as specified by the Outdoor Program Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator and/or Rental Manager, and Marketing Coordinator. Preferred Qualifications Passion and enthusiasm for Outdoor Recreation, and a willingness to go on Outdoor Program trips. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Rush, Lightroom) and graphic design principles. Experience with photography and photo/video editing. Ability to work under pressure and produce work before deadlines. Experience with special events, tabling and public speaking. Basic understanding of WSU Campus Recreation. Demonstrated ability to work in a positive, collaborative manner with Campus Rec participants, coworkers and professional staff. The applicant must be outgoing and willing to help plan activities and events. Prefer applicants with awarded work-study status (please be prepared to provide documentation of work-study status).
