Design Manager (Advanced Manufacturing)

Summary:Clark is currently seeking highly talented Design Managers for immediate employment. This position serves as an integral member of the project team working to deliver complex design-build projects nationwide. The Design Manager serves as the primary team lead through the design development phase of the project.Key responsibilities include:Ultimately responsible for design deliverables through the design process Actively lead an integrated design-build team and regularly interface with the client, designers and trade partnersSuccessfully deliver high quality design on budget and on scheduleEnsure that design meets contractual obligations and program requirementsLead stakeholder decision meetings, design progress meetings, and design conferencesOrganize the design review process and lead resolution to all commentsLead collaboration both internally with cost manager and purchasing agent and externally with key project stakeholdersManage design issue resolution in real-timeParticipate in bid submissions and the development of RFP and RFQ responses including providing strategic insights to pursuit strategy Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field 4-8 years of relevant work experience, preferably with design-build experience Qualified experience may include work as a development manager, design manager, project manager, or design professional; experience managing project staff is preferredMust have strong interest in construction general contracting and in the design-build delivery processUnderstanding of how to execute successful Design-Build projectsBasic understanding of BIM modeling, a plus working knowledge of AutoCAD and RevitPreferred membership in DBIA or other industry associations Skills & Abilities: Strong knowledge of design and cost management principles and practicesClear understanding of integrated design and construction schedules Appreciation and understanding of architecture firms’ business model, design principles and processAbility to lead a collaborative design process with various stakeholdersStrong leadership, communication and relationship-management skillsAbility to train, manage and influence several direct reportsAbility to motivate and collaborate with peers working at other firmsAbility to work with and present to executive leadershipAbility to participate in pursuit efforts for design-build projectsSelf-motivated, organized team player with ability to manage work priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to develop and maintain a collaborative, creative work environment and influence othersThe work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. The Physical Side of the Role: Given that a good portion of your day will be spent at a desk, you should be comfortable with prolonged periods of focused work, whether it's collaborating with colleagues, analyzing data, or developing strategies. The role demands effective communication and sharp visual acuity for reviewing complex documents and performing detailed computer work. While there are times for quiet concentration, you'll also be expected to move actively throughout the office and travel occasionally to various locations, including dynamic construction sites, utilizing different modes of transportation. The ability to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds on occasion (think a box of files or small office equipment), is also required.Your Work Environment: Your primary workspace will be in our professional office, which has a typical, quiet-to-moderate noise and light levels. As part of your work, you may also be required to visit active construction sites. These environments are naturally more dynamic and can include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, louder noise, and moving equipment. For this role the base salary range is $85,000 - $185,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
