JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title : Pupil Activity Fund Accountant

Qualifications :

1. Bachelor's degree in related finance field;
2. Three to five years of experience in governmental accounting;
3. Strong written and oral communication skills;
4. Ability to work with people at all levels to solve problems;
5. Excellent organizational skills;
6. Computer experience with financial systems, Word and Excel;
7. Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to task completion;

self-starter able to function independently yet supports a team effort.

Reports To :

Position is directly responsible to the Business Services Manager.

Job Goal :

To maintain, monitor and support the Student Activity Accounting System for all locations.

Performance Responsibilities :

1. support schools in the understanding of fiscal management, policies and procedures of the student activity funds;
2. train school personnel (bookkeepers, backup bookkeepers, principals, etc.) on the computerized student activity accounting software;
3. maintain the computerized student activity programs to ensure processes work in the most efficient manner;
4. assist schools in resolving bookkeeping and computer problems;
5. monitor expenditures for appropriateness;
6. review financial statements from schools on a monthly basis to ensure proper procedures are being followed;
7. compile monthly, quarterly, and year-end information as necessary to analyze student activity funds;
8. assimilate data from schools for internal and external audit reporting purposes;
9. periodically review the financial systems on site in schools;
10. maintain and update Student Activity Handbook and other manuals associated with the student activity funds;
11. assist bookkeepers with procurement card procedures;
12. monitor reimbursements to, or payments for the benefit of, principals on a monthly basis;
13. prepare training materials and provide formal training instruction for bookkeepers annually and intermittently throughout the year;
14. provide backup support for banking transfer of funds;
15. provide support for purchasing card processes;
16. performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

Terms of Employment:

Twelve Months with salary in Group M, Administrative/Supervisory Salary Schedule (49,410 - 79,306).

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Greenville County School Board of Trustees' Policy.
