Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Specialty: Medical Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele)
Location: Rochester, New York (NY)
Duration: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care for adult patients with cardiac, stroke, and other acute medical conditions. The ideal candidate will possess strong telemetry skills, excellent assessment abilities, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Schedule

12-Hour Shifts
Every Other Weekend Required
No On-Call Requirement

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical/Telemetry experience required
First-time travelers accepted

Required Licensure & Certifications

Active RN License
BLS Certification

Required Skills

Interpretation of Dysrhythmias
Management of Dysrhythmias
Telemetry Monitoring
Phlebotomy
Peripheral IV Insertion
Peripheral Line Care and Management
Rapid Response Team Utilization
Stroke Patient Care
Cardiac Patient Care
Isolation Precautions
Oxygen Therapy Management
Non-Invasive Airway Management

Equipment Experience

Hoyer Lifts
Nasal Cannula
Oxygen Face Masks
Portable Oxygen Tanks

Patient Population

Cardiac Patients
Stroke Patients
General Medical-Surgical Patients

Patient Ratios

Days/Evenings: Typically 1:5 (may extend to 1:6–7)
Nights: Typically 1:6–7 (may extend based on unit needs)

Support Staff

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) available to assist with:
- Vital Signs
- Blood Glucose Monitoring
- EKGs
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop care plans
Administer medications and treatments as ordered
Monitor telemetry and respond appropriately to cardiac rhythm changes
Start and maintain peripheral IV lines
Perform phlebotomy as required
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Provide patient and family education
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Technology
