Empower a high school student’s journey by providing dedicated, specialized instruction as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). This contract opportunity offers a chance to work one-on-one with a 10th-grade student identified as Blind/Low Vision, utilizing your expertise to foster academic success and personal growth.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current, valid Indiana state license in Visual Impairment (VI) is required
  • Experience teaching or supporting visually impaired students, preferably in a school setting
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored for students with low vision or blindness
  • Strong collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable with assistive technologies and adaptable instructional methods

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, individualized instruction to a 10th-grade female student requiring Blind/Low Vision support
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and related services to ensure accessibility and inclusion in all learning environments
  • Assess student needs, recommend appropriate accommodations, and help secure access to educational materials
  • Monitor and document progress; adjust educational strategies as needed to support student goals
  • Guide the student in developing life skills, independence, and confidence
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for families and school staff regarding best practices
  • Maintain compliance with all documentation, legal requirements, and professional standards
