Job Details Job ID: 5769601 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jun 09, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Position Summary: This position oversees and supervises the overall operations in a school kitchen/cafeteria. The supervisor organizes and directs kitchen staff to prepare and serve meals, (including cleaning). This position is responsible for completing and maintaining documents to meet USDA food program requirements. It is a training position only, and not permanent. After training is complete, not to exceed 1 year, trainees may be placed in a permanent supervisor position or may be returned to a production position. Qualification Requirements Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience must possess computer skills Obtain/maintain ServSafe certification Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensure adherence of school food service programs to federal, state, and local laws and regulations and district requirements concerning sanitation, safety, free and reduced-price meals, and nutritional standards. Demonstrate professional leadership behaviors and promote positive relationships with students, parents, co-workers, other district staff, and vendors. Monitor, evaluate, and document staff performance and discipline. Learn to maintain accurate Child Nutrition paperwork/records including: food and equipment inventories, food production records, food orders, temperature logs, and staff time sheets. Prepare, maintain, and participate in daily, weekly, and monthly rotation schedules for serving, cleaning, cashiering, and back of the house. Learn to open and close the POS, perform end of day procedures, handle money procedures, make a deposit ticket, and to make bank deposits if necessary. Demonstrate the ability to read and follow recipes without variances, convert recipes, and ingredient quantities. Adapt recipes for the correct number of portions to prepare. Follow all manufacturer's directions. Monitor all food for quality, taste, and appearance. Assume responsibility for calculating correct amounts of food/materials to order, verifying deliveries, storing, handling, preparing, and serving. Attend and participate in all Child Nutrition department/district required training, in-service meetings, monthly safety/supervisors meetings, scheduled cleaning days, GCN, safety training, and successfully pass the Serv-Safe test and/or maintain certification. Complete other duties as assigned. Language and Grammar Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.
