Job Description

Bring your passion for science education to high school students in the vibrant New Orleans area as a full-time General Education Science Teacher. This contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year allows you to foster curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and make a meaningful impact within a supportive academic environment. With a Monday through Friday schedule (35 hours per week, plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch daily) aligned to the school calendar, you’ll be able to deliver quality instruction while enjoying work-life balance.

Qualifications:

Possession of an active Louisiana Department of Education Teaching Certificate (required; candidates pursuing certification or with TAT will not be considered)
Prior high school science teaching experience is preferred
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners
Commitment to meeting all district drug screen and fingerprinting credentialing requirements
Ready for a full-time schedule and able to start August 3, 2026, through May 27, 2027

Key Responsibilities:

Design and deliver engaging science lessons that meet curriculum standards for high school students
Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and tailor instruction to individual learning needs
Foster a positive classroom environment that supports academic growth and curiosity
Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration
Maintain accurate records aligned with district guidelines
Engage with parents and guardians to support student success
