Paralegal

LaPlant HR is recruiting on behalf of a well-established Spokane law firm seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join its team and develop into a key role supporting the firm's Estate Planning, Probate, and Guardianship practice. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside and train with our experienced Estate Planning & Probate Paralegal, providing time to learn the firm's clients, processes, and practice before ultimately assuming primary responsibility for the role. While this is intended to be a full-time position (37.5 hours per week), we are also open to candidates who would prefer to begin on a part-time basis. A part-time schedule would generally consist of three 7.5-hour days per week (22.5 hours), with the expectation of transitioning to full-time employment within approximately 18 months. Responsibilities: Working closely with the firm's attorneys and current Estate Planning & Probate Paralegal, you will provide administrative and substantive legal support in matters involving estate planning, probate, guardianships, and related areas. Responsibilities will expand as you become familiar with the practice and may include: Assist attorneys with estate planning and probate matters from initiation through completion. Assist attorneys with all facets of guardianship matters, including preparation of documents, court filings, deadline tracking, client communication, and ongoing case administration. Prepare, revise, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and other materials. Assist with the preparation and organization of estate planning documents. Support probate and estate administration matters, including maintaining files, tracking deadlines, and preparing routine filings and correspondence. Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, courts, financial institutions, and other outside parties. Coordinate appointments, document execution, filings, and other case-related activities. Maintain accurate and well-organized electronic and physical client files. Track deadlines and proactively follow up on outstanding information and action items. Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys as needed. Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to independently manage the paralegal responsibilities associated with the firm's Estate Planning & Probate practice. Qualifications: We are looking for someone who already has experience working in a legal environment and is interested in developing deeper expertise in estate planning, probate, and guardianship. Prior estate planning or probate experience is helpful, but is not required for the right candidate. Qualified candidates should have: Previous experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or in a comparable law firm/legal support role. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong proofreading and document-preparation skills. Ability to manage multiple matters, priorities, and deadlines with accuracy. Professional judgment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Strong interpersonal skills and a client-service mindset. Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the firm. Initiative and willingness to learn new practice areas, procedures, and responsibilities. Comfort working independently as knowledge and responsibilities increase. The anticipated pay range for this position is $27.00–$36.00 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications.
