Trauma Program Registrar-MSM-FT Days

Internal Medicine

Trauma Registrar responsible for comprehensive data collection, abstraction, and basic analysis of trauma patient data. The registrar ensures accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of the trauma registry, performs coding (ICD‑9/10, AAAM), and supports trauma program performance improvement initiatives. Works closely with coding specialists, vendors, and regulatory agencies to submit data and generate reports. Responsibilities Performs comprehensive chart review and is primary responsible for trauma registry data collection, including data entry, database management, validation, injury coding and scoring, statistical analysis, and report design. All registry records closed within 30–60 days of patient discharge. Works closely with registry vendors to resolve issues and implement system upgrades. Submits data to TQIP, NTDB and the State of New York on time; communicates any issues to the Trauma Program Manager or PI Coordinator. Supports trauma program performance improvement and injury prevention initiatives by providing accurate data and noting trends. Actively participates in all trauma‑related performance improvement and patient safety programs. Customizes and creates data fields to optimize registry efficiency and facilitate issue identification and reporting. Provides reports for monthly Trauma PI meetings one week prior to the meeting. Provides accurate quality and data reports for regulatory agency meetings and surveys; performs other duties as delegated by leadership. Participates in injury prevention, outreach and education; ensures prevention activities are based on local and national data. Participates in all trauma center activities and attends national, regional and state programs. Supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, performance improvement effort participation, and teamwork. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. One or more years of college with courses in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD‑10‑CM/PCS coding certification, AIS 2015 coding certification and computer software databases preferred. License/Certification: Board Certified AIS Coding Specialist required within 2 years from date of hire. Experience: Direct exposure to trauma patient management preferred; secretarial experience preferred; data entry experience with focus in databases desirable; computer skills required; proficiency in clinical applications preferred at hire, with training within 30–60 days. Compensation Salary range: $58,661.00 – $68,000.01 Annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other benefits.
