Job Description
Major NYC real estate owner developer is looking for an in-house Associate General Counsel, Real Estate to focus on office and retail leasing, contract review and support for commercial financing. This position will be reporting to the General Counsel.
\n \nResponsibilities:
\n- \n
- Draft, review, and negotiate retail leases and associated real estate documents across expanding commercial portfolio. \n
- Partner with internal business teams and landlords to align lease terms. \n
- Review and negotiate various real estate-related documents, including: \n
- Lease amendments and extensions \n
- SNDAs (Subordination, Non-Disturbance, and Attornment Agreements) \n
- Estoppel certificates \n
- Assignment, consent, termination, and other ancillary agreements \n
- Provide legal counsel on real estate-related issues, such as dispute resolution, landlord-tenant obligations, enforcement actions, and operational concerns. \n
- Collaborate with Real Estate Operations teams to ensure that legal terms align with business needs. \n
- Support the development and refinement of internal lease templates, negotiation playbooks, and process efficiencies. \n
- Track and manage the status of lease negotiations and approvals through appropriate internal systems and workflows. \n
Qualifications And Requirements
\n- \n
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. \n
- 3-5 years of legal experience, with a strong focus on retail leasing and commercial real estate transactions. \n
- In-house experience is a plus. \n
- Confident operating autonomously on real estate matters. \n
- Demonstrated experience managing a high volume of leasing transactions and legal documentation. \n
- Strong negotiation skills with a practical, business-oriented approach and sound judgment. \n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. \n
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. \n
This position is on-site 5-days a week.
\n \nSalary commensurate with experience.
