State Requirements - Education, Licensure, and Certification

- Valid Arizona Occupational Therapist license (OTR/L) issued by the Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (ABOTE)
- Active NBCOT OTR certification in good standing; NBCOT verification must be submitted directly to ABOTE as part of the licensure process
- Completion of a minimum of 928 hours of supervised occupational therapy fieldwork experience as part of an ACOTE-accredited program
- Two letters of reference from a supervisor or professor required as part of the Arizona licensure application
- Experience working in a school-based setting is strongly preferred

Typical Job Duties
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations to assess students' functional performance, fine motor skills, sensory processing, and participation in school activities
- Develop and implement individualized, school-based OT intervention plans aligned with each student's IEP goals
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and related service providers
- Recommend and support implementation of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications
- Communicate with families regarding student progress and home carryover strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
