Project EngineerThe Project Engineer ensures the engineering and design phases are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements. The Project Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining existing and creating new engineering standards for systems and equipment in the Vistra. The Project Engineer is responsible for verifying all site-specific engineering designs and equipment specifications align with Vistra fleet standards and Fleet SME guidance and are accurately incorporated into each project & contract strategy.Key AccountabilitiesDevelop engineering design standards/guidelines/specifications for each system(s)/components in accordance with Vistra standards and Fleet SME guidance.Create/maintain a repository for all project designs and fleet standards – including incorporating lessons learned from previous projectsCoordination to ensure engineering and equipment standards are accurately incorporated into each project design and Contract StrategyComplete a hazard analysis of all projects during pre-construction phaseUtilize Vistra Playbook during development and construction of projectsReview of 10%, 30%, 60%, IFC designs for construction Projects issued by EPC contractorSupport major equipment selection during early phase engineeringDevelop Engineering SOW's & Owners Engineering SOW'sContributes to economic justification/analysis for projectsEducation, Experience, & Skill RequirementsMerit is determined by demonstrated skills and relevant years of experience.BS or greater in an Engineering discipline. Civil Engineering background preferred.5+ years relevant experience (power generation operations, maintenance, engineering)Required experience in major Power Plant Electrical System DesignEffective communication of complex conceptsKnowledgeable of applicable codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices; budgeting, & project managementDemonstrates and applies knowledge of current and pending regulatory, code and general industry issues to resolve Vistra's interests.Proficient with business/technical evaluation processes.Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, creative problem solving and team buildingHigh level of expertise in MS Office suiteExperience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skillsAble to execute projects/strategies with minimal oversight.Key MetricsCapture current engineering design standards, identify gaps and update standards to improve the quality of future projectsCollaborate and communicate effectively with key project stakeholdersSuccessful delivery of projects to Operations within established financial and production related performance targetsMaintain effective working relationships.
