Medical Science Liaison, CNS – Senior Manager Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. employs a customer‑engagement model focused on improving patient care through a local, ecosystem‑based approach. The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a key role in this model, contributing to the development of the ecosystem strategic business plan and engaging with healthcare providers, patient groups, and other stakeholders to advance patient outcomes aligned with Otsuka’s objectives. Key Activities And Responsibilities Provide a clinical and scientific perspective to the local execution plan, addressing customer challenges and facilitating field activity coordination. Build, cultivate, and leverage relationships with key scientific and medical customers (KIs, LPLs, KDMs, patient advocates) to understand healthcare trends, disease states, and Otsuka products. Maintain a deep understanding of the ecosystem to align with Otsuka’s patient‑centric strategy and priorities. Serve as a credible source of evidence‑based information, demonstrating the value of Otsuka products from clinical, economic, and humanistic perspectives and partnering with providers to improve patient outcomes. Develop internal working relationships across the matrix team, ensuring an enterprise approach for customer interactions and accountability to regional Field Medical leadership. Disseminate disease‑state and healthcare landscape information to customers as priorities dictate. Provide clinical and data‑focused training for promotional and disease‑state speakers. Participate in Otsuka’s speaker bureau to support educational needs across the territory. Collect and submit medical insights that guide decision‑making and evidence‑generation efforts, sharing findings at the local ecosystem level. Support Otsuka’s clinical trial program (registrational, post‑marketing, investigator‑sponsored trials, health‑economic research) by offering clinical expertise and feedback on trial operations, site selection, and performance. Mentor peers and new hires in functional and therapeutic development. Assist other organizational areas such as Safety & Pharmacovigilance and Sales Training, and contribute to the Field Medical Center of Excellence. Qualifications MD/DO, PharmD or PhD in life sciences required. Understanding of health‑system interconnectivity, patient‑care delivery, and experience working with healthcare professionals. Minimum 2 years relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry Medical Affairs; CNS disease training or experience preferred. Strong business acumen, knowledge of Otsuka’s business model, competitors, and marketplace dynamics. Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict‑resolution skills. Ability to lead project teams and strategically guide others. Proficient in summarizing and communicating complex information to diverse audiences. Strong understanding of industry legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape. Adaptability to an ambiguous, transforming environment. Preferred location: key city within the territory. The range represents typical pay for U.S. hires; actual pay will align with experience, skills, and internal comparison.
