About the Opportunity We are partnering with a private equity-backed company that is building its finance organization following a recent acquisition and is seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead the accounting function. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced accounting leader who enjoys creating structure, improving processes, and driving operational excellence in a high‑growth environment. Reporting directly to executive leadership and working closely with private equity sponsors, this individual will establish best‑in‑class accounting practices, oversee the transition to GAAP reporting, and build the accounting team as the business continues to grow through both organic expansion and acquisitions. Salary: $160,000 – $180,000 base Please note this salary range is an estimate. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, and overall fit. Primary Responsibilities Build and lead the accounting function, establishing scalable processes, internal controls, and financial reporting procedures. Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. Lead the organization's transition from cash basis accounting to full GAAP compliance. Prepare financial reports and analyses for executive leadership, investors, lenders, and board presentations. Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, financial planning, and operational decision‑making. Evaluate existing accounting systems and help lead the implementation of a new ERP platform to support future growth. Support acquisition activity, including purchase accounting, financial integration, and post‑close process improvements. Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other business partners to ensure compliance and reporting accuracy. Assess future staffing needs and recruit, develop, and mentor the accounting team as the organization expands. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting operations, reporting, and financial processes. Candidate Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA strongly preferred (active or inactive license acceptable). Public accounting foundation, followed by progressive industry accounting leadership. Proven Controller experience with strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month‑end close. Experience building, improving, or transforming accounting processes in a growing organization. Ability to thrive in a hands‑on, fast‑paced environment while balancing strategic leadership with day‑to‑day execution. Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across executive leadership and operational teams. Experience supporting private equity‑backed organizations, acquisitions, ERP implementations, or accounting system upgrades is highly desirable. Background within asset‑intensive, service‑based, rental, or project‑driven organizations is a plus.
