Reporting to the Vice President of Donated Goods Retail, the Director of Retail Operations plays a critical leadership role in shaping the future of our retail operations. This position partners across departments to improve operational efficiency, increase production, maximize profitability, and support Goodwill's mission of transforming lives through the power of work.

What  You Will Do

As the Director of Retail Operations, you will:

• Champion innovation by analyzing emerging market trends, technologies, and best practices to guide strategic initiatives and drive continuous operational improvement.
• Develop and implement operational strategies that increase efficiency, improve productivity, enhance the customer experience, and drive sustainable revenue growth.
• Optimize inventory management, merchandising, supply chain processes, and standard operating procedures across retail locations.
• Partner with retail leadership to develop production and sales strategies that achieve sales and cost objectives.
• Lead donation acquisition initiatives that expand community engagement and maximize the value of every donation received.
• Collaborate with transportation and warehouse teams to ensure seamless product flow and operational excellence.
• Participate in monthly financial reviews, analyze financial performance, , and develop action plans that improve profitability.
• Leverage key retail performance metrics and data analytics to identify opportunities and measure operational success.
• Lead high-impact strategic projects from concept through implementation, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and performance measurement.
• Lead cross-functional teams through all phases of project life cycles, ensuring successful execution, stakeholder alignment, and measurable outcomes.
• Coach and develop people to build engaged, high-performing teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Stay informed on regulations and best practices related to donated goods and resale operations.
• Participate in meetings, committees, training, and other organizational initiatives as needed.

What  You Will Bring

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive multi-unit retail management experience. Experience working within a Goodwill organization or another mission-driven retail environment is preferred.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and P&L management.
• Proven track record of successfully driving operational improvements and managing organizational change in a dynamic retail environment.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage data, technology, and automation to maximize operational performance.
• Proven ability to translate business objectives into actionable operational plans.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related business technologies.
• Ability to travel regularly between Goodwill locations and work evenings and weekends.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• A customer-first mindset with a commitment to operational excellence and service.
