Job Description
Highlander Charter School is seeking an Academic Interventionist (K-8) to provide targeted academic interventions in reading and math for students performing below grade level. Working closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and administrators, the interventionist will implement evidence-based instructional strategies, and use data to monitor student progress, adjust support, and ensure academic growth for students in their caseload. Reports to: Principal Location: Providence Campus Position Type: Full-Time, School Year Position, Grant-Funded* Hours: TBD Responsibilities: Deliver, progress monitor, and document for small-group academic interventions in reading and math for students in their caseload, using evidence-based instructional strategies. Administer and document screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring assessments. Complete other duties as assigned. Participate in data analysis meetings to evaluate student performance, refine instructional groupings, and inform instructional decisions. Serve as a resource for classroom teachers by modeling effective instructional practices and supporting the implementation of evidence-based intervention strategies. Maintain and organize accurate intervention data to track individual student growth and ensure compliance with school requirements. Facilitate afterschool tutoring sessions to provide additional academic support for students. Participate in grade-level team meetings and professional learning communities to support overall academic programming and student success. Requirements: Current Rhode Island elementary teacher certification Proficiency in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy Familiarity with data-driven instruction and intervention practices Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills Commitment to educational equity and experience working with diverse student populations, particularly students of color, multilingual learners, and students with diverse learning needs. *Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding.
