Commercial Lines Underwriting Manager (Wholesale)

Description : Lead the underwriting and servicing teams, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely handling of new business, renewals, and service requests. Train and onboard new team members; conduct regular one-on-ones and coaching. Oversee workload distribution, PTO coverage, and day-to-day team operations. Review complex submissions and guide team members on underwriting decisions. Monitor renewal workflows and ensure timely preparation of proposals. Serve as the escalation point for team underwriting questions or situations requiring carrier involvement. Maintain strong, responsive relationships with brokers; handle escalated issues professionally and efficiently. Work closely with carrier underwriters to clarify guidelines, negotiate terms, and resolve underwriting challenges. Review team members' work as needed (including during absences) to ensure service continuity. Identify and address gaps in processes, communication, or account handling to improve consistency and workflow efficiency. Requirements : 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting or account management experience; prior leadership preferred. Strong understanding of commercial P&C lines and carrier appetites. Excellent communication, organizational, and people leadership skills. Experience in a multi-carrier or wholesale environment a plus.
