Procurement Specialist

Under occasional supervision, performs routine or standardized duties involved in the processing of requests and requisitions for the purchase or rental of equipment, food and supplies for the District. Develops and maintains purchasing records. Reports to the Director of Procurement.

Specific duties and responsibilities include entering completed requisitions into the computer system, processing and printing purchase orders, reviewing requisitions for accuracy, completion, clarity and compliance with the District's procurement code, evaluating procurement requirements and determining what type of bid will best serve the District, preparing formal or informal solicitations for public viewing based on the dollar amount, initiating contacts with vendors relative to food, supplies and equipment availability, purchase orders, contracts and delivery, negotiating competitive prices, investigating delayed deliveries, developing and maintaining purchasing records, preparing correspondence relative to District purchasing activities, resolving purchasing discrepancies, responding to customer problems and concerns, managing the procurement card system and processes, receiving, reviewing, preparing and/or submitting various records and reports including requisitions, purchase orders, specifications, vendor reports, change orders, contract documents and agreements, memos, correspondence, etc., interacting and communicating with various groups and individuals such as immediate supervisor, co-workers, other District administrators and staff, state and federal agencies, vendors and the general public, complying with all federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, administrative rules, and directives, and performing related duties as required.

Minimum education and training requires a high school diploma supplemented by two years of general procurement experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
