Procurement Category ManagerThe Procurement Category Manager analyzes costs, negotiates contract details, and offers strategies and solutions to help better manage costs on supplies and vendor services within their assigned category. Additional duties include managing inventory, placing purchase orders, tracking orders, resolving issues concerning price disputes, and making bids for a vendor's services.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trendsDevise long-term development strategies for product categoriesDevelop exit strategies for unsuccessful productsFoster trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of servicesPlace appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demandsDetermine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibilityLiaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product categoryCollaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categoriesMake forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventoryAssume responsibility of budget development and revenue for categoryPerforms other duties as assigned or apparentSupplemental Functions:Copying, filing, and scanning of documents.Performs other similar duties as required.Requirements:Knowledge & Skills:High school diploma and some advanced training required.Computers skills necessary; experience with inventory management and demand planning preferredSolid communication and interpersonal relationship skills requiredSpecific expertise, skills, and knowledge within procurement gained through education, course work, and experience preferred. An analytical mind with a strategic ability.Ability to manage a multitude of resources while maintaining accurate and current with data and informationAbility and willingness to change direction and focus to meet shifting organizational and business demandsAbility to create and contribute to environment that values people, encourages trust, teamwork, and open communication, and provides participation, learning, feedback and recognition.Ability to effectively manage one self, demonstrates integrity, be productive under pressure, and achieve development goals.Education/Experience:3-4 years of related experience in the pharmaceutical industry.Bachelor of Science in the area of Life Sciences, is preferred but not required.Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:· Position requires bending, typing, climbing, lifting, reaching, standing, sitting (60%), walking, and hearing.
