Federal Litigation Associate Maritime and Personal Injury Defense

Foreman Friedman is seeking an experienced litigation associate for its downtown Miami office. The attorney will take meaningful responsibility for federal and state cases involving maritime and admiralty claims, personal injury defense, negligent security, medical negligence, and other complex civil matters. Our clients include major cruise and shipping lines, international insurers, P&I clubs, and companies in the travel and hospitality industries. Associates work directly with experienced partners and clients and play a substantive role in developing and executing litigation strategy. Responsibilities include: Managing litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution Developing case strategy with the responsible partner Drafting and arguing substantive motions Managing written discovery, document production, expert discovery, and related disputes Taking and defending depositions Preparing witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives Attending hearings, mediations, inspections, and court conferences Evaluating exposure and preparing clear, practical client reports Communicating directly with clients regarding strategy, developments, budgets, and recommended next steps Participating meaningfully in trial preparation and, depending on experience, trial proceedings This is a full-time, on-site position in downtown Miami. Salary: $110,000-$150,000, commensurate with experience. health, dental, and vision insurance a 401(k) plan with employer matching employer-provided life insurance and long-term disability coverage paid time off parential leave Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar At least three years of civil litigation experience Experience managing a litigation docket with meaningful individual responsibility Strong legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines Professional and responsive communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the court Ability to work full-time from the firm's downtown Miami office Federal civil litigation experience is strongly preferred. Experience in maritime or admiralty law, personal injury or insurance defense, hospitality, transportation, premises liability, negligent security, or medical negligence is valuable but not required. Experience taking depositions, arguing substantive motions, and working directly with insurers, claims professionals, or corporate clients is also preferred. Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida is preferred. A qualified Florida attorney who is not yet admitted must be eligible and willing to obtain admission promptly after joining the firm.
