Trauma Surgical Nurse

As a Trauma Surgical Nurse at Mercy, you will deliver high-acuity trauma and perioperative care in a fast-paced hospital setting. You’ll assess and stabilize trauma patients, assist in surgical procedures, manage post-operative recovery, and coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams. You will use evidence-based practices, maintain accurate EMR documentation, and educate patients and families. Responsibilities Assess, triage, and stabilize trauma patients in collaboration with the care team Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during trauma and surgical procedures Provide post‑operative and critical care monitoring, including hemodynamic assessment Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies per protocols Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR accurately and timely Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary staff for coordinated care Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality standards and protocols Participate in trauma drills, continuing education, and skills training Support Mercy’s mission and culture of compassion, diversity, and innovation in patient care Skills & Certifications Trauma nursing Surgical nursing Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) Basic life support (BLS) Emergency assessment and triage Hemodynamic monitoring Wound and post‑operative care Medication administration and IV therapy Electronic medical records (EMR) Interdisciplinary care coordination Qualifications Valid RN license Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred or required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Critical care or emergency nursing experience Benefits Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401(k) #J-18808-Ljbffr Stryker Corporation
