About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Adult Medical Specialty Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 4 x 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Experience with Central Lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes - Preferably candidates with EPIC experience and travel experience on a MedSurg Floor - Experience in a level I trauma center will be considered as long as there is EPIC experience Description: The unit consists of 56 beds, both private and semi-private. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 during day shifts and 1:5-6 during night shifts. Common patient diagnoses include cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health and addictions. Nurses will not be required to titrate drips. Common titratable or set rate drips include Heparin and Lasix. There is a charge nurse available on each shift, who does not take an assignment. Patient Care Techs (PCTs) assist with vital signs, accucheks, bladder scans, and activities of daily living, with a ratio of 1:8-10. Respiratory equipment used includes Bipap and Cpap for sleep apnea, as well as inhalers and suctioning. Telemetry is monitored remotely, and RNs can view strips on their devices or computers. Shifts are scheduled from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Self-scheduling or block scheduling is allowed. There is a weekend requirement of every other weekend for day shifts and every other weekend for night shifts. Floating to other acute care general medical areas may be required, including nephrology, neuro, ortho, and oncology. Scrub color is professional attire. Visible tattoos and piercings, except for ears, are not permitted. Unit-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts.
