Painter/Finisher – Wood Shop (2nd Shift)

Location: Tampa, FL
Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay: Competitive, based on experience

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Painter/Finisher to join our growing wood shop team. This position is responsible for preparing wood surfaces and applying high-quality finishes to custom millwork and wood products. The ideal candidate has experience with wood finishing techniques, spray equipment, and takes pride in producing quality craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Prepare wood surfaces by sanding, filling, smoothing, masking, and repairing imperfections.
• Mix, match, and apply primers, stains, paints, sealers, lacquers, and other commercial wood finishes.
• Operate and maintain finishing equipment, including spray guns, sanders, and spray booths.
• Read and interpret shop drawings and work orders.
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow OSHA and company safety procedures.
• Monitor material usage and help minimize waste.
• Work independently while also collaborating with supervisors and production team members.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a wood shop, cabinet shop, millwork facility, or similar finishing environment preferred.
• Experience applying stains, paints, lacquers, sealers, and other wood finishes.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, sanders, and spray equipment.
• Ability to read shop drawings and follow written work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Good organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
