Corporate Controller

We are continuing to grow, and are looking for a Controller to join our team.The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the business including the review of the monthly financials, reporting on trends to management, preparing and reviewing budget to actual performances and working on cash flow issues. Additionally, the Controller is responsible for working with the banks to ensure that lines of credit are in alignment with the company requirements. The Controller is also responsible for calculating all departmental labor and overhead rates.The Controller performs duties in an independent manner with little to no supervision, exceeds heightened discretion given the sensitive nature of the Controllers duties, and looks for assistance on non-routine events and issues. The Controller has the authority to make staff selection and development decisions for the department.Primary Responsibilities:Participates in the selection of the outside auditing firm and maintains ongoing relationshipsParticipates in the selection of the bank relationships and provides bank with required reportsParticipates in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partnerEvaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new strategies/services/product and regulatory actionsPrepares all major audit schedules for the year-end auditReviews and recommends adjustments to monthly financialsPrepares annual budgets by department and company budgetPreparation of the yearly financial statements including footnotes as one of the primary responsibilitiesPreparation of monthly financial reporting package to include balance sheet, income statement, variance to budget report, cashflow forecast, breakeven analysis and backlogEnsures all single source bids are in compliance with FAR (Federal Acquisition Rules)Prepares and maintains FAR accounting documentation and manuals and ensure all applicable staff are trainedParticipates in negotiations with various municipal authorities on FAR pricing and prepare answers to all FAR related questionsPrepares all departmental labor and overhead rates for use in pricing proposals and for internal financial reportingPrepares and maintains software capitalization schedules for all research and development projectsLeads the implementation of various modules in Axapta record keeping systemEstablishes and maintains systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data and enhance the Organization's valuePrepares all Canadian business and tax forms including HST, QST and PSTHandles Canadian immigration papers and customs documentationsAdvises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assetsReviews Organizations benefits offering and advises management on recommendations for changesHandles RSP accounting documentation preparation and schedulesObtains proactive knowledge of tax and financial practices of countries the Organization has an interest is doing business withPrepares updates summary sheet for pricing breaking out fixed and variable overhead costs and their impact on meeting profitability goalsPrepare tax information required for Corporate tax returnsRecruiting, training, supervising and evaluating department staffOther duties as assignedEducation & Experience:Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting required10+ years experience in a leadership role in accounting4+ years experience in public accountingCPA certification and working knowledge of GAAPPreferred Education & Experience:Advanced degree or certificationExperience raising funds, understanding Capital markets and working with on Ex US financesSkills & Competencies:Strong analytical and problem solving skillsStrong management skillsStrong organizational skillsStrong interpersonal skillsStrong presentation skillsAbility to influence and negotiationStrong ability to be detail oriented and work with a goal of precisionStrong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a complete mannerAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizeStrong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and ability to learn new software programs such as D365.HMMS, (Hitachi Rail CD U.S. Ltd.) is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity EmployerThe compensation range posted for this position represents the anticipated minimum and maximum compensation for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate.
