Staff Accountant

Position Title: Staff Accountant


Location: Melville, NY (On-Site)

A growing healthcare organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1-2+ years of accounting experience who is looking to continue developing their career in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Candidates coming directly from public accounting or private industry are encouraged to apply. CPA eligibility or progress toward the CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  
  
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and the general ledger.
  
  
• Prepare supporting schedules and assist with monthly financial reporting.
  
  
• Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and cash management activities as needed.
  
  
• Analyze financial data and investigate account variances.
  
  
• Assist with audit preparation and provide documentation for external auditors.
  
  
• Help maintain strong internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  
  
• Collaborate with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  
  
• 1-2+ years of accounting experience in public accounting, healthcare, or another industry.
  
  
• CPA, CPA candidate, or parts of the CPA exam passed is a plus.
  
  
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP or healthcare accounting systems is a plus.
  
  
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  
  
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
