Automation And Controls EngineerOur Chaska site is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Automation & Controls Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing automation systems. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing advanced control systems, supporting plant operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, and engineering to improve equipment performance, reliability, scalability, and safety across the site.What You'll Do:Design, develop, and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and robotic control systems for manufacturing equipmentLead automation projects from concept, design, and programming through commissioning and production supportDevelop and maintain control system architectures, electrical designs, and documentation (schematics, network diagrams, etc. )Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), HMIs, vision systems, and robotics platformsOptimize system performance, cycle times, and reliability using data-driven analysis and continuous improvement methodologiesDiagnose and resolve complex electrical, controls, communication, and system integration issuesSpecify, integrate, and support industrial components including sensors, instrumentation, servo systems, VFDs, motion control, and safety systemsManage and support industrial networks ( Ethernet /IP) and connectivity between systemsCollaborate with mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams to design automated equipment, tooling, and fixturesLead commissioning, validation, and startup activities for new production lines and capital equipmentEnsure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policiesMaintain and improve documentation, version control, and change management processesSupport digital transformation initiatives including data collection, MES integration, and smart factory technologiesProvide technical leadership and mentorship to technicians on automation best practicesCollaborate with global teams to standardize automation platforms and processesStay ahead of emerging technologies and recommend strategic improvementsCommunicate technical concepts, risks, and solutions clearly to stakeholders at all levelsAdhere to PACE values – people & teamwork, accountability, integrity & trust, creativity and innovation, dedication to excellenceWhat We Seek:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fieldMust be 18 years or older and have the right to work in the US without sponsorship2 + years of experience in automation and controls engineering within a manufacturing environmentStrong experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Logix platform preferred)Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, Ignition, or similar)Knowledge of robotics systems (FANUC preferred), including programming and integrationProficiency in electrical system design and ability to read and develop schematicsExperience with motion control systems, servo drives, and coordinated motion applicationsKnowledge of industrial communication protocols and network architectureExperience supporting and leading equipment commissioning and startup activitiesStrong troubleshooting skills across electrical, controls, and integrated systemsFamiliarity with safety systems (lockout/tagout, machine safety circuits, risk assessments)Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar preferred)Knowledge of data systems, MES integration, or Industry 4.0 technologies is a plusStrong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skillsAbility to work independently and lead cross-functional initiativesPhysical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at timesMust be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shiftAbility to use hand tools and perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, and reachingAbility to work at heights using ladders, lifts, or platforms as neededAbility to obtain forklift certification if requiredWorks well independently and within a team environmentWhy Work At Entegris?Lead.
