This role owns core general ledger, reconciliation, and close activities that keep our books clean and our controls strong. It's a great opportunity to build deep accounting fluency while contributing directly to the integrity of our financial statements.What You'll DoPrepare and post journal entries and support the monthly and quarterly close processComplete account reconciliations across cash, loans, and reserves, resolving discrepancies with accuracy and follow-throughMaintain the general ledger, ensuring transactions align with accounting policy and internal controlsSupport balance sheet and income statement analysis, flagging variances for reviewUse AI tools where appropriate to speed up reconciliations, research, and reporting, while confirming outputs are accurate before they're usedAssist with internal and external audit requests, pulling documentation and responding to routine inquiriesPartner with Finance, Credit, and Operations teammates to understand the accounting impact of new transactions and initiativesContribute to process improvement efforts, including automating recurring reconciliation and reporting tasksAbout You2+ years of accounting experience; bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education and experienceYou bring precision and follow-through to recurring accounting tasks, even when the volume is highYou've been using AI tools long enough in your daily life to have real opinions about them, what they're good at, where they fall short, and when to trust the output, and you're ready to apply that instinct at workYou ask good questions and take feedback well as you build your accounting judgmentYou communicate clearly with teammates across finance and adjacent teamsYou care about getting the details right, from a reconciliation to a footnoteNice to HaveExposure to ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion)CPA candidacyExperience in financial services, fintech, or another regulated environmentWork Location San FranciscoThe above locations are eligible offices for this role. The locations have been determined to foster in-person collaboration with this role’s team or the related business lines. We utilize a hybrid work model, and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In-person attendance is essential for this role’s success, and remote placement will not be considered. Happen Bank offers relocation, based on actual job level. Time Zone Requirements Local hours (PT)While the position will primarily work local hours, Happen Bank is headquartered in Pacific Time and our ideal candidate will be flexible working across time zones when necessary.Travel Requirements As needed travel to Happen Bank offices and/or other locations, as needed. Compensation The target base salary range for this position is 88,000-103,000. The base salary of the role will be determined by job-related knowledge, experience, education, skills, and location. Base salary is just one part of Happen Bank's Total Rewards package.
