Careers At Interstate Companies Inc Job Title: Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic Location: Altoona, Iowa Company: Interstate Power Systems Pay Range: $25.00-$50.00/hour DOE Interstate Power Systems is hiring Mid-Level and Experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Technicians at our Altoona, Iowa location. This opportunity is ideal for diesel mechanics with hands‑on experience working on on-highway heavy-duty diesel trucks , including Detroit Diesel engines (Series 60 and newer) , Cummins , CAT , PACCAR , International , and related platforms. Our technicians service Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, Mack , and other heavy‑duty truck manufacturers. What You’ll Do Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel trucks and components Perform advanced diesel diagnostics on engines, electrical systems, and aftertreatment Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, driveline, and chassis systems Communicate repair findings clearly with service writers and shop leadership Complete quality repairs to maximize equipment uptime Accurately document labor, parts, and completed work What We’re Looking For Experience as a Diesel Technician or Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic Strong working knowledge of Detroit Diesel (Series 60) and Cummins engines Electrical and diagnostic troubleshooting experience Valid driver’s license required ( CDL holders eligible for additional pay ) Experience with Allison transmissions, CAT, International, PACCAR , or similar OEMs preferred Competitive hourly pay based on experience PTO starting day one Paid holidays Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Company-provided uniforms and tool program Ongoing OEM training and certification support Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
