Medical Biller/Coder

Job Title Medical Biller Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. They will be responsible for accurately processing and managing billing information for various types of insurance, including Workers' Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA), Commercial Insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing procedures and experience with different insurance providers. Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies. Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness; obtain any missing information. Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe. Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances. Analyze and appeal denied claims. Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts. Establish payment arrangements with patients; monitor payments; follow up with patients when payment lapses occur. Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting, and resubmitting claims to third-party payers. Complete Billing Audits. Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, coding experience preferred. Proficiency in billing for Workers' Comp, MVA, Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS). Proficiency in using billing software such as Claim MD and experience in manually completing HCFA 1500 Claim Forms. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with HIPAA. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Education High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or certification in medical billing preferred). Schedule Initially 15-20 hours per week. Opportunity to increase hours based on workload, up to 30 hours per week. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
