Join to apply for the Standardized Patient role at Upstate Medical University Job Summary Standardized Patients (SPs) at Upstate Medical University’s Syracuse Campus are community members paid to help train future healthcare providers. No medical background is required. SPs are trained to portray patients accurately by following case scripts, answering questions, and allowing students to perform basic, non-invasive physical exams while wearing a hospital gown over undergarments. SPs support student learning by providing verbal and written feedback, completing computerized checklists, and participating in video-recorded sessions used solely for educational purposes. Training is provided to prepare SPs for each scenario. Minimum Qualifications At least 17 years old and authorized to work in the U.S. Reside in the Syracuse, NY area with reliable transportation Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly Basic computer and email skills Comfortable with being examined, videotaped (educational use only), and providing feedback Ability to memorize and portray assigned patient cases realistically Willingness to accept coaching and stay in character during simulations Maintain strict confidentiality Preferred Qualifications Experience in acting, education, or customer service is a plus Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 4-6 hour shifts during daytime hours Additional Information This position is for recruitment purposes only.
