Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience required License: Valid state or compact RN license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: This position focuses on providing relief from the side effects of serious illness. The unit provides symptom management for patients still under treatment, including uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, and fatigue. The ideal candidates are medical-surgical nurses who want to enhance their palliative care skills while also experiencing high acuity medical-surgical units through floating. Candidates should have experience with pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain interventions and equianalgesic dosing of opioids. The primary goal of the unit is to support patients experiencing advanced illness or imminent end of life by managing pain and other distressing symptoms, while also addressing emotional and psychosocial needs. Acute care experience must be current and consistently worked within the last 12 months. Candidates must have professional references, including at least one from someone in a formal leadership capacity. No coworker references will be accepted. Candidates must complete fingerprinting as part of the hiring process.
