Maintenance Technician Dept. 339 - 2nd Shift - Heavener Hatchery (20150017) Summary Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment. Listen for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions and discuss variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems. Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers, wiring, and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment. Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines to repair or fabricate parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools. Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Set eggs in the incubator if needed. Maintain chick trailers including fans, lights, globes, heater and chiller. Operate automation equipment if required. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills Must have basic computer skills. Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. Work Environment Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Noise level is usually loud.
