Assistant Property Manager – Self Storage Brooklyn, NY | In person | $21.00+ per hour, depending on experience

Secure Self Storage is hiring an Assistant Property Manager to help run a self-storage facility in Brooklyn.

This is an active, hands-on position. You will spend part of your day helping customers and completing office work, and part of your day walking the facility, checking units, cleaning, and handling daily property needs. This is a self-storage role ; it does not involve managing apartments or residential tenants.

What you’ll do

Rent units and help customers

• Answer calls, emails, online leads, and walk-in inquiries.

• Show available storage units, explain rental options, and follow up with prospective customers.

• Complete rentals and help customers with move-ins, move-outs, transfers, payments, and account questions.

• Sell locks, boxes, and packing supplies.

Keep the facility running

• Walk and inspect the property regularly, including storage areas and vacant units.

• Clean and prepare units for the next customer. Help keep hallways, the office, and shared areas clean and presentable.

• Perform light upkeep, such as sweeping, mopping, removing debris, and basic painting touch-ups.

• Check doors, locks, access systems, alarms, and cameras; report maintenance or safety issues promptly.

• Open and close the facility according to company procedures.

Support accounts and operations

• Contact customers about past-due balances and assist with collections and auction procedures.

• Maintain accurate rental agreements, customer records, payments, inventory, and daily reports.

• Help the Property Manager meet rental, occupancy, and revenue goals.

• Assist with daily operations when the Property Manager is away.

What we’re looking for

• Strong customer service and sales skills, with the confidence to follow up and ask for the rental.

• A dependable, organized person who can move between customer service, computer work, and property tasks throughout the day.

• Comfort handling payment conversations and resolving customer concerns professionally.

• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn our storage management systems.

• Willingness to clean units, walk the property regularly, and perform light physical work.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when needed.

• Weekend availability and a reliable commute to Brooklyn.

Experience in self-storage is a plus, but it is not required. Retail, sales, customer service, and other hands-on facility experience are also valuable. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
