DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Meets with attorneys; clients; experts; consultants; and other professionals to discuss assigned cases, projects, evidence, and case strategy. Drafts and prepares legal documents, including pleadings; motions; affidavits; discovery; and other litigation-related documents. Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal authorities and provides summaries and analysis to attorneys. Performs all aspects of discovery, including drafting, preparing, and responding of discovery requests; preparing and issuing subpoenas; coordinating discovery responses; reviewing, compiling, organizing, coding, and indexing documents; and assisting with discovery production and management. Prepares organizes, maintains, and retrieves case files, including evidence; exhibits; depositions; pleadings; expert materials; client documents; and other litigation-related documents. Assists attorneys with trial and hearing preparation, including organizing exhibits and evidence; preparing witness and exhibit materials; coordinating trial logistics; and attending trials, hearings, depositions, mediations, inspections, and other proceedings as needed. On a case-specific basis, oversees the organization and maintenance of the case file and Case Management Spreadsheets, including delegating and monitoring tasks assigned to department assistants, file clerks, and other support personnel as needed. Monitors case deadlines, litigation tasks, and discovery obligations and assist attorneys in ensuring timely compliance with court orders, case management orders, procedural requirements, and other applicable deadlines. Provide support to attorneys throughout all phases of construction litigation, including pre-suit Chapter 558 matters; defect investigations; document review and analysis; coordination with experts and consultants; preparation of claim notices and responses; and management of discovery, depositions, mediations, and trial support. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong understanding of legal terminology, principles, research methods, pleadings, litigation procedures, and related legal processes. Excellent interpersonal and client service skills. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong time-management skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and, at times, stressful environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound discretion, judgment, and professionalism. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, e-discovery platforms, and related software. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and other members of the litigation team. Must be willing and available to work overtime and travel, as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Paralegal Certificate/Degree OR five years of litigation paralegal experience. In-depth knowledge of Florida Court rules, procedures, electronic discovery, and filing requirements, including arbitration proceedings, electronic discovery, and e-filing requirements. Experience managing all phases of litigation, including case intake, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, arbitration, and trial. Experience coordinating trial and arbitration logistics, maintaining organized physical and electronic case files; and utilizing e-discovery databases and litigation support software for document review and production, witness files, deposition transcripts, and exhibits. Experience handling construction litigation matters, including construction defect claims, Chapter 558 pre-suit proceedings, contract disputes, and related litigation. Experience coordinating with clients, vendors, expert witnesses, engineers, architects, contractors, consultants, and other professionals throughout the litigation and dispute resolution process.
