2026-27 Clerk II - Horizon HS

$15.15 per hour

Clerk II Location: Horizon High School Term: 10 months, 8 hours/day (7/7/2026 - 6/4/2027) Grade: 11, Pay: $15.15/hour (Non-Interim Position) Purpose Statement The job of Clerk II is to greet and direct visitors, respond to inquiries from staff, the public, parents, students, etc., provide clerical support to administrative personnel, and provide requested information or referral to other parties. Essential Functions Answer telephone system for screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries, taking messages, emailing messages. Coordinate a variety of projects, functions and/or program components (e.g., meetings, Read Across America program, substitute coverage, peer mediation schedules, etc.) to complete activities and deliver services in a timely fashion. Greet individuals entering the building (visitors, parents, students, vendors, etc.) and direct them to appropriate location according to building security procedures. Input data into commercial and customized databases (attendance, scheduling, employee parking, transcripts, etc.) ensuring accuracy. Maintain a wide variety of manual and electronic documents/files and records (absence reports, counselor schedules, etc.) to provide up-to-date information and historical reference per guidelines and legal requirements. Perform general clerical functions (copying, faxing, data entry, filing, etc.) to support office operations. Schedule a wide variety of activities (appointments, building use, bus and van usage, etc.) to make arrangements for assigned administrators and supervisors. Distribute items within the site (mail, discipline notes, special delivery and overnight mail/packages, messages, etc.) ensuring receipt. Receive a variety of items (mail, special deliveries, packages, supplies, etc.) for distributing materials to appropriate parties. Other Functions Maintain reception area materials to provide resource information to visitors. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Ability Skills: prepare and maintain accurate records; operate standard office equipment; use pertinent software applications; provide customer service; screen telephone calls. Knowledge: basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, speak clearly; understand written and oral instructions; business telephone etiquette; office practices; record keeping and retention practices. Ability: schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and classify data; use basic job-related equipment; work with diverse individuals; adapt to changing priorities; work with frequent interruptions; communicate with diverse groups; display tact and courtesy; organize tasks; maintain confidentiality; identify issues and select action plans; basic problem solving with data and equipment. Responsibilities Work with immediate supervision; provide information and/or advise others; utilize resources from other work units; opportunity to affect organization’s services. Work Environment Physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity; 85% sitting, 10% walking, 5% standing; generally clean and healthy environment. Experience and Education Experience: Job-related experience is required. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Required Testing, Certificates, Licenses and Clearances Pre-Employment Proficiency Tests: Spelling, Mathematics, Filing & Typing. Criminal Background Clearance. Valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. FLSA Status Non Exempt.
